How long had the egg been hidden I don't know

in the back yard where it was forbidden to go

That's where the briars and the thorns of roses grow

it would have been a parting chore for Moses.

A hard boiled egg that was hand painted red

lay there in the tall grass that grew over our head

Don't know how long that chicken lay there dead

but it stunk to high heaven and with enough of that said.
