Time: 02:13:00 hours. Admiral's State Room Corridor.
The admiral walked quickly with Navy Captain Peterson and Army Colonel Kotter as the Admiral held a red folder in his hand. He stops and speaks to Colonel Kotter, "How long can it operate without having to re-energize itself Colonel?"
The colonel looks straight to the admiral as he immediately replies, "24 to 48 hours sir, depends on the strain of the unit, heat or cold conditions, type of terrain, amount of activity are all factors calculated. It will never run itself short on energy before stopping to re-energize itself.."
"Hm, step inside gentlemen," the admiral motions with his hand quickly as they pass the admiral and walk into the conference room. Inside is a long, dark, redwood table but in an empty room. No other officers are inside. This is a private conference the admiral desires as he shuts the door behind himself. "And the weapons system colonel? What are we looking at here?"
"Admiral, it can turn a rock into a bullet sir if it wants to. More than likely, it will cut such missiles out of wood, or highly compressed dirt, producing it's own weapons. It has a built in 30mm but when it runs out of real ammo, it will resort to thrown projectiles that can resemble the speed of the real rounds, or simply using stealth sir to sneak attack its targets."
The admiral shakes his head and breaths slowly through his nose in frustration but also with showing a sense of being impressed with what the colonel is telling him about the hybrid unit.
"So, you're telling me colonel that it will allow itself to run low on energy and when it DOES get low, it will simply go off and hide and rest up for another day, correct?" The admiral asked the colonel.
"That's right admiral, or for another night...either way, can work more effectively at night, having built in night vision and infra red, thermal sights." The colonel pressed a button to his unique looking black case as it hissed open and a pad rises up with screen. The colonel places a glove on and sits back as he moves his fingers and hand as if operating his laptop style computer with the gloved hand.
"And what are you operating before us colonel?" This admiral is a remote scanning unit and operator's unit otherwise called an RSU. There are only five of these of which, can be used to track the hybrid unit. Our newest satellite that is now flying over the target location...is specially designed to monitor THESE specific units admiral. With this device, I can get a general fix on the hybrids location. The problem is...we designed it as a friendly unit and since doing this, it can also mask it's tracking device."
The admiral shifted in his seat, "Yeah, but this one colonel has gone haywire, you must have put in some sort of safety shutdown program."
"Sir, these hybrids were made to be as close to human in operation and thinking as possible. The problem was a virus that got into this one's program that screwed with its motor function program. Now we have a lose cannon we have at least contained to one location. The problem is being able to target it. It will not move like a machine but like a man and yet has the stamina and attack or defenses of a machine." The colonel replied as he continued to move his fingers as if pointing and circling something in the air in front of his computer.
The admiral leans forward as his captain listens in and watches both officers...."Colonel, you have just lost an entire team of Green Beret and you're sitting here playing on that damn computer of yours and talking to me as if there is hardly a problem here. The way I see it, right now, I have now a team of my own at risk of coming up missing as well. I don't want to see that happen."
The colonel stops and slowly lowers his arm to the table as he listens to the admiral.
"You've got an experiment here gone haywire that your best elite can't even stop. Now our best elite are in danger. If THEY can't stop it and it is too smart to bomb it with an airborne drop or from a ship, then just what in God's name do you plan on doing to STOP this thing? We need answers and we need them now colonel. I have an entire team of Navy SEALs, WAITING for my go signal. You either give me an answer within the hour colonel or I will personally find a way to DESTROY your hybrid whatEVER it is out there."
The colonel leans back in his chair, clasping his hands before his face as he rests his chin onto his knuckles. He looks up with two fingers touching his lips and breaths deeply out. He then suddenly stands up and shuts the case, pulling off the glove. "Sir, sorry admiral, you do NOT have the authorization from the SOD to do any such thing. This is a multi-billion dollar project. You can't just pull the plug because YOUR team is out there. Their job is currently sir, with all due respect...to monitor and report and all activity. To NOT attack, to NOT destroy. To remain concealed until we can pinpoint the problem and THEN we will know what to tell you."
The admiral stood up with the captain. "Colonel, I need some answers, just get me some answers on how to control this thing. I don't want a whole team of men to end up dying for one our damned projects of black ops and then end up being just names on another because of some program that got a virus in it. FIX IT or I give the go and my men will resolve the matter themselves. Think they are going to stand around and become target practice dummies for some half machine commando unit? Think again colonel. Not going to happen. Your hybrid tries attacking them, they will blow it to hell and back." the admiral states, moving to the exit of the conference room.
