I loved this chapter. It was very well written. It reminds me a little of the movie Secondhand Lions. But I loved that movie. Anyway, very good job. I voted 4.5.

I am very intrigued! Who is the frequent guest? ... why did Great Aunt Mercy stop before she said the name of who Rainier looked like? why has it been so many years without him visiting his Grams? This is exceptional writing and the characters are instantly compelling. I can't wait for the next chapter. I would like to write it but feel I am still too much of an amateur to compete with this author. Very good job! I will vote 4.5

Hi guys. Thank you for your encouraging comments. I started this story about half a year ago and stalled on chapter three. I've had to cut some stuff out so that it will fit in the box to submit the chapter, so if the transition from one chapter to another is not smooth enough, that's the reason. Please keep reading and feel free to add a chapter if something occurs to you.
