well, the thing is, the narrator, at this point is just looking back. He has no emotion left, so to focus on past emotion would be a waste of words for him... The whole thing starts off "I was once human"... This was the set-up to let the readers know that the narrator is now completely emotionally detached. If you read on to subsequent chapters, you will watch as the exposition unfolds... if this comes out the way it is in my head, it's gunna be good... |

I'd say that my biggest influence in writing has been Edgar Allen Poe... I first picked up a Poe tome at the ripe young age of 10 and have been addicted to terror in print ever since... and I know, "How can a 10 year old understand Poe?" How can anyone of today understand the language of the written word of over a hundred years ago? You just get the gist of it all and if you are like me, you have a dictionary handy...lol... but the first thing I ever read was 'The Tell Tale Heart'... such a wonderful tale |
