What will people say about us

long after we're dead and gone?

How much of an impact will we make

on their hearts and minds?

What gifts will we leave them to remember us by?

Will their tears flow warm and strong with the rising sun

but cool and fade by the grey onset of night?

In the end,

will it really matter that they knew us at all?

Will something we say or do during our lifetime

inspire them and make them better people,

even in some small way,

after our death?

And if it does,

how will we ever know?

Or will we?
