Nip/Tuck  by Norcia

A little nip here

A little tuck there

When will we get it right?

We try to fix what's wrong and be the best we can be.

Still, something seems off.

Our bodies need nips and tucks.

So do our minds, hearts, souls,

and so many other parts of us

in far-off places

that we are too afraid to take a step towards.

Should we change our way of thinking?

Probably.

Should we be more caring and compassionate?

Maybe.

Should we let more people into our lives?

Absolutely.

The process of nipping and tucking is like a merry-go-round.

We will always be flawed in so many ways.

We will always need an emotional nip here and a psychological tuck there.

Maybe it will end when we die.

Or will it?

Even then, our faces get made up in the coffin,

so we look our best when loved ones come to say their goodbyes.

God, even in death we are not allowed to show physical flaws!

Guess life is not the only thing that's a bitch.
