Thomas picked up his cup of coffee and put on his brown tweed jacket as he got ready to leave work. He wanted to get him before rush hour got too hectic, if possible. He walked to the elevator and took it down to the first floor, and got off. The woman at the customer service desk said goodbye to him as he walked out the door and he responded with a casual nod of his head.
He got into his car, and pulled out into the road. There still weren’t too many cars so he knew he’d left early enough. However, on the way home a reckless driver in an SUV cut him off. “Damn moron, I wish you would crash!” Thomas said. He quickly corrected himself for his terrible language and continued home.
He got home and did his normal routine, watching television, eating, and taking care of any responsibilities or chores he had. Then he settled down for sleep. He was an average single male in his late thirties.
Three people were walking through a dense forest. There was a strange looking woman with pink hair, a black haired girl, and a short, fat man. The black haired girl asked, “Do you really think this is okay?” The pink haired woman replied, “I told you, we have to do this. I don’t want them to gain use of something so powerful. You know what our purpose is. It only works to our advantage that they don’t know the truth yet. They will soon.”
The people kept walking. The woman with pink hair scratched her arm on a rose bush as she walked. She looked at the scratch and said, “That’s no good.” It disappeared.
A man named Robert was out driving. Most of his friends knew him by the name Bob. He was generally regarded as a nice man, although none of his friends would get in a car with him driving. He was known as a foolish and reckless driver.
Robert was driving along a fairly high mountain road. He attempted to turn around a curve. However, the car kept going straight for some reason. He pushed down hard on the brakes but the car still went through the guardrail.
The mountain was fairly steep but not steep enough that something would fall down it. So Robert’s car kept going until it hit a tree near the bottom of the mountain. It exploded in flames, killing him almost instantly.
Thomas went back to work the next day. Work was probably the most eventful thing in his life, even though he had a dreary office job. He had no real friends anymore, as he had become rather isolated from people after his first (and so far, only) wife cheated on him and broke up with him for seemingly no reason.
The day proceeded as normal until around 2:30. Then his boss called him to his office. Thomas wondered why he his boss wanted to talk to him. It turned out to be rather unpleasant.
His boss told him, “Thomas, I don’t know exactly why, but all of your co-workers seem to think you’re up to no good. I don’t know if you’re trying to embezzle money, or get one of your co-workers fired, but don’t try any of those things if you’re thinking about them. You have been acting somewhat suspicious lately. We have no room for practices like that in this workplace. Now go back to your office.”
Thomas had no clue why his boss called him to his office. He had no proof that he had been plotting any of the schemes he had accused him of. In fact, he hadn’t been plotting any of those schemes. He also had no clue why his boss said he was acting suspicious, as he acted exactly the same as he did when he first started working there 4 years ago. He tried not to let it bother him as he went back to work.
Thomas had to do overtime that day so by the time he left, it was already dark. He said his goodbyes and walked to his car as usual. He got in and started the drive home. This time, he was on a long stretch of straight road that had an unusually large forest on the right side of it. However, he got pulled over by a policeman.
The policeman told Thomas, “You were speeding. You were going 48 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. Please get out of the car. I will have to test you to see if your blood alcohol level is over the state limit.”
Thomas replied, “What are you talking about? I was only going 3 miles per hour over the speed limit. I’m surprised I was even pulled over for that.”
The policeman replied, in a disturbingly cold voice, “Do not argue with me.” Thomas thought it was best to get out of the car after that, and did. However, when he stepped out, instead of telling him to walk the yellow line or something like that, the policeman tried to handcuff him.
Thomas’ reflexes kicked in due to the unexpected action and he Thomas jerked his hands back. The police tried to handcuff him again, but Thomas avoided him and ran. Thomas wondered, “What the hell is up with this guy? Is he a cop that went crazy? A serial killer who disguised himself as a cop? Is there some criminal out there that looks like me? But he never said anything about having a warrant for my arrest or anything..”
The cop kept following him, so Thomas ran into the forest that was on the left side of the road. The cop kept following him. It seemed like the cop was getting closer and closer even though Thomas was running as fast as he could. Thomas had a brief flash of regret that he’d stopped going out to jog a few years ago. The cop’s footsteps were getting closer and closer when suddenly the cop tripped and fell down. Thomas didn’t stop to look back and kept going.
Thomas couldn’t help but glance back once while continuing to run. However, this was a mistake. Thomas fell off a 10-foot ledge and landed in a bush. His body got scratched up and he felt a sharp pain in his left leg. He got up again, however, and kept walking as fast as he could.
