Stoneheart Chapter 3

In the morning, Leo was up early and preparing a realist latex mask for himself that he had invented. If he and Jez were to “adopt” the girl without complications, she couldn’t even have an indication that this was a set-up. He dressed in a casual suit without a tie and met Jez outside his hotel room and they drove to the orphanage. Leo discussed with Jez about his plans, the conversation with the girl, and how odd it was that such a logical boy had found magic. “This plan better go smoothly for all of the effort we are putting into it. Every detail needs so much attention,” stated Leo bluntly. Jez laughed. “It sounds to me like this might go a little too smoothly. Don’t get me wrong, Leo, we are going to be just as careful as any other plan, but there could hardly be any complications with this,” Jez said. “But I have to admit, you are nearly stonehearted for this one.” Leo grinned vampirishly. “I don’t have any problems with that,” he said. They pulled into a handicapped parking spot at the foster home.
