The story so far:
As Callie got to the highway she scanned the distance in both road directions praying silently to see headlights. She squinted her eyes in hopes of sharpening any image that could be beneficial to her. "Nothing," she thought. It was just as she had remembered it to be, absolutely nothing.
She started walking north on the shoulder of the highway. After what had felt like hours, but had in reality only been minutes she saw the glow of headlights in the distance. As the vehicle grew nearer Callie started waving her hands to flag down the driver. The man in 91' model ford pulled to the side of the highway. Callie crossed the highway and ran to his truck. The man in the truck was in his mid-thirties. He introduced himself as Robert. Callie explained what happened to Robert and he offered to drive her up north to the small town about 15 miles up the road. Callie knew which town he spoke of. Even though she wished he would take her in his truck and continue driving south, Callie got in the truck. She put the duffle bag on the floor between her legs. As Callie fastened her seatbelt the truck did a U-turn on the highway and headed north, to the place she never wanted to return to.
