Discussion of "Hands - 18" by Katrina

It is interesting to think how we, and by we I don't have any idea if I mean humanity or just writers in particular, belittle ourselves. How self-deprecation is considered a sign of humility almost. Anyway, my point is that to you Katrina, your hands are boring and dull. After all, it is said that "familiarity breeds contempt". But from my perspective, a younger perspective (but who knows how much younger. You can't be older than 25 right? :P ), your hands hold (pun intended) a wealth of experience that I cannot fathom. Your hands have experienced the sensation of being joined with another's to the musical tribute of Bob Marley.

So do not fret about cheating (as everyone participating already has anyway) and do not consider any part of yourself boring. Just take a look from a different perspective.

Think of your hands from the perspective of a pet. I'm a dog person myself, and from a dog's perspective, your hands would be the feeder, the scratcher, the petter, etc. And they would be a source of comfort and love. Not boredom.

To our own minds, we may be dull and boring. But the world is so much more than ourselves, and it appreciates every new experience the dull and boring bring to it. After all, is not a perfect autumn day nothing more than a "dull" serenity?

Shame on me for not riding your chapters out to the end Kat! Judging by this one I can see you became a little ‘restless’ with this project as well. haha.
Because this is at heart a fiction site, it’s always a challenge trying to determine if someone is writing, or if they are creative writing. Even so, I was going to tell you that your writing is wonderful and in my minds eye, your hands will always be beautiful…but then I got sidetracked by Jackoalltrades comment and I suddenly had the urge to get a tub of ice cream and watch Oprah?

What a nice surprise to get a comment on one of my silly little "Hands" chapters :)

I got SOOO restless with the project. I wanted to use my hands to tear out my eyeballs, not to write about themselves.

And you will always be beautiful to me, too. Not just your hands :)
