Trouble With Legends chapter 3  by JadeRose

Stormy sighed and looked up at the man.

"Look, I'm not sure who, or exactly what you are or what you're trying to do, but I'm really not that impressed."  She held her breath and couldn't help but shiver when he walked through her.

"Does that answer your question as to what I am?"  Stormy glared at him for a moment, then fumbled out another cigarette.

"I really hate it when you ghosts do that.  You might find it amusing, but it's not the way to get me to help you."

"Help me?  Now what would make you think that I need your help?"  Stormy just shrugged and blew a plume of smoke in the direction of the ghost.

"All right then, so stop wasting my time.  I have better things to do than hang around here."  She walked away, and ignored the protests behind her.  She had just rounded a corner when she ran into her friend Mike.

"Geez, there you are, we were about to send out a search party to look for you.  Hey you look kind of pale, are you all right?"

"No, I'm not all right.  I really think it was a stupid idea to come on this tour."  Mike got an excited look in his eyes, and grabbed both of her shoulders so that he could look her full in the face.

"You saw one didn't you?  You actually saw a ghost!  Where did he go?"  She pitched the cigarette away, and pulled out of his grip.

"I don't know and I really don't care Mike.  I'm not the side show freak to drag along just to see if I can actually do the tricks I say I can."  He managed to look sheepish and kicked at some rocks on the ground.

"I'm sorry Stormy, so you wanna do the tour or are you gonna go back to the hotel?"

"I'll come on the tour, I came all the way out here I might as well see if anyone else come to say hello."

"Hey, do you realize that you might actually be able to solve this?  You could actually figure out who Jack the Ripper really was!"

"I really don't think that would be a good idea.  I mean if you believe some of the rumors, the Queen and family have worked very hard to keep it quiet all this time.  What do you think would happen if all of it were brought back up again?"

"I can personally promise you that you're life wouldn't amount to much."  She turned to see the ghost resting against the wall watching her.

"So you going to tell me who you are and what you want, or do you want to play more games?"  Mike looked at he confused for a moment, and then saw what direction she was looking in.

"Is there really a ghost here that you're talking to?"

"Why is it that he can see me and you can't?"

"Something I keep asking myself every day.  If you're going to avoid answering the question you can just go away."

"All right, I'm Chief Inspector Aberline of Scotland Yard.  I want your help to prove whether or not my suspicions were right."

"You just said that if I dug into the past my life would be pretty much forfit, but you want me to do it anyway just to prove whether or not you were right?"

"I can't seem to rest until it's done, so are you going to help me or aren't you?"  Mike looked back and forth between Stormy and the spot she was looking at trying to figure out what was going on from the one side of the conversation he could hear.

"I suppose I really don't have much of a choice.  The first thing to do is get started on this tour.  It'll be a lot of tourist garbage, but it'll be a start anyway."  Mike slipped his arm into hers and led her to where their tour guide was impatiently waiting.  When they got there Mike handed the man some extra money which brightened him up immediately.

"So what are we doing that could be dangerous for you?"

"We're going to solve the mystery of Jack the Ripper, whether anyone wants us to or not."
