Fur-Babies (13): Dentistry
by JD_Renaissance
I think my dogs were dentists in another life. JuJu, at least, must have been. I think Boston was a hygienist in general. When we first got JuJu, we noticed she had a rather peculiar habit. She loved to lick people in the face, which I think is normal for any happy-go-lucky pup out there. But she didn’t stop at the face. She went for the teeth. People teeth, dog teeth, it didn’t matter. For some reason, she insists on licking them. Nowadays, she for the most part only goes after the poodles, who need dentistry something fierce. Polly will tolerate a lick on the choppers every once in a while, but Shiloah, the oldest of the bunch, hates it and will growl. Unfortunately, when she growls, she exposes her teeth, making it easier for the doxies to get at them. I say doxies and not doxie because Boston seems to have developed the same habit. She goes after Shiloah with a vengeance, usually flattening herself on her back after every two or three licks – she doesn’t want to get snapped at. Regardless, she seems compelled to annoy the elder, larger, less tolerant poodle. Unfortunately, Boston’s fetish doesn’t stop there. I never have to worry about cleaning any of the dog’s ears except Boston’s. Nor do we really have to worry about giving JuJu a bath, ever. Unless we want her to smell like something other than her sister’s puppy breath.
