Renaissance: Downpour – Day Ninety-Nine, Early Morning  by JD_Renaissance

Something wet hit her face and slid across her cheek.

“Down, George. Leave her alone, boy.”

A dog barked. She heard something sizzle nearby.

“Is she gonna be okay, Daddy?”

“She’s going be just fine, sweetheart.”

Renni moaned.

“I think she’s waking up.”

A large calloused hand touched her forehead. It felt warm. Renni tried opening her eyes.

“Shh… not yet. You rest now.” The hand left. Something jumped up and nestled against her legs.

“George, down!”

“It’s okay, sweetheart. Let him stay. He’ll keep her warm.”

Renni didn’t struggle. She shut her mind and let sleep take her once more.
