Fur-Babies (1)

They’re a dog and a half long and half a dog short. Dachshunds, badger hounds, tenacious hunters, loyal friends, recklessly brave. Oh, and obnoxious to boot. They are nearly a year apart in age, though both think they’re still puppies. The eldest, JuJu, is lithe and fast, able to out run her sister when playing tag around the living room, dodging furniture and feet. The youngest, Boston, is the stronger and larger of the two, though she just turned a year old and has yet to fully develop in body or in mind. They are my companions and my compensations, taking the place for now of longings yet to be fulfilled. They are my babies, my fur-babies.
