Fur-Babies (7): Comical Comforts  by JD_Renaissance
As comical as Dachshunds might seem in body, they are just as if not more so in spirit and personality. Always kind at heart, they find little ways of being silly just for the sake of it or sometimes for a purpose. JuJu, it seems, has purpose in her own antics and we sometimes deem her “Good Medicine.” Whenever my hubby or I are down in the dumps, here comes JuJu suddenly insisting on getting into our laps, staring deep into our eyes, and then giving a good lick in the nose. If she can’t get into our laps, she’ll sing to us, serenading our sorrows away with her soprano wails and yawns. Sometimes, she does this while looking at us through the mirror instead of looking at us directly. And, if that fails also, she takes one good hard look at us, makes sure we are watching, and twists into a ring, her mouth intent upon catching the tip of her tail in a high speed chase. The only time I’ve ever seen her chase her tail is when she is cheering someone up. BoBo, on the other hand, takes a different tactic when it comes to cheering. Like her sister, she is highly sensitive to our emotions and when we feel bad she comes trotting up to us, her tail wagging a million miles an hour and sometimes mimicking the motions of a propeller. She isn’t a strong jumper, so getting into our laps takes effort, usually on our parts. Once there, she snuggles close, licks whatever is available, be it face or hand or ear if she can, and simply tells us she’s there if we need her and we can pet her and all the worries in the world will go away.
