Two comments:
First, instead of copy and pasting their writing, couldn't we email support to make a symbolic link here.
Two, could we continue a thread that had two or three stories mashed to it?

Pick initial chapter even if someone else mashed it. If you are first up, yours will be the new 2nd chap. Do you have an example of picking up a story that is 2 or 3 chapters in? There are exceptions to all these rules/guidelines.

On the other point, an alternative to copy and pasting could be creating a link to the original writing. Is that what you said, WBS?

Well, I was thinking the story thread to Mirror Mirror could be resolved: http://storymash.com/u/ShadowedPen/kovapube/

As for the link, I'm not a python/djanjo expert, but it shouldn't be hard for the webmaster to make an exception to the system and manually place an additional link following to the chosen stories.

Would you pick up Mirror Mirror after ShadowPen's initial chapter or would you start essentially at chap 4 following the 2 mashers? Either way it works as long as we can keep it going for 5 chapters after you.

Additionally, may I recommend this matrix for subsequent writing:

Each writer would get a number, then follow the matrix for each round. For instance, if cheese=1, cj=2, al=3, sim=4, mjm=5, and wbs=6.

The second round cj would follow cheese, al follows cj, etc.

The third round cj would follow me, al follows cheese, etc. etc.

Invert the X/y axis, then you'll see that I designed it for no writer to constantly follow another writer.

So the correct, mathematical left-to-right matrix would look like:

6 1 3 2 5 4

I just found it easier writhing top-down. I should know better; I actually have a degree in mathematics.

A Math Degree! That settles it. Can I delegate the order to you? I would like it set-up so that all mashers can know which stories they'll be working on well in advance. Will you accept this new responsibility? Please?

Just waiting for three of you to acknowledge that they have reviewed rules and added their email if they so choose.

The order will go as such:
First Story:
Cheese -> TBH -> CJ -> mjm -> WBS -> Sim

Second Story:
CJ -> Sim -> TBH -> WBS -> Cheese -> mjm

Third Story:
TBH -> mjm -> Sim -> Cheese -> CJ -> WBS

Forth Story:
Sim -> WBS -> mjm -> CJ -> TBH -> Cheese

Fifth Story:
mjm -> Cheese -> WBS -> TBH -> Sim -> CJ

Sixth Story:
WBS -> CJ -> Cheese -> Sim -> mjm -> TBH

I modified the matrix, so that no two writers every follow each other more than once. Additionally, everyone should have written before and after everyone else once.

Question:
When each writer chooses their chapter and we start, will we work on ONE story at a time per week, or will we have to post 6 chapters a week?
If we have to post 6 per week, I will gracefully bow out because my life won't allow that. One chapter a week is all I can handle...

One chapter per week. That will be the ideal timeline. Then we can get it done before November. If it goes a little longer it will not be the end of the world. Now we need two more acknowlegements: mjm and OriginalSim.

WBScott has identified his starter story. The rest of you can do the same. Please do not post here. Post in original thread. Leave as a draft for now. I have faith that mjm and OriginalSim are with us but their enter keys have been hijacked by terrorists. This site is still being worked on. I trust it will eventually be a great platform to view the entire project. From now on post your updates in the forum.

This may sound dumb, but when you say post in the original thread, do you mean this chapter or the forum? Also, how did WBS post that chpt by Shadowpen on this chapter?

Post your draft chapter to the original story. It is not a dumb question. The guidelines were modified after getting advice from support@storymash. WBS did not post the ShadowedPen chap, Support did. If we can get everyone on board here, Support will take your chapters and add them to the CollabortionNATION thread. Let's talk in the forum, email each other to discuss plot-lines from storywriter to storywriter for smooth transitions. Support will delete email addresses from comments once everyone has checked in, so write them down. It should look great when it gets going but we still have two Mashers who have not checked in.

If you need a substitute... I'm willing to fill in. ;)
