"The Night Begins"

Things That Go Bump  by Cheeseliker

"Hey!" Matt called out angrily. "Put 'em back on!"

There was no response. Typical.

"F***ing a**holes..." he muttered to himself.

The only light came from the small readout of the washing machine that his clothes currently rested in.

0 minutes.

He slowly made his way to the doorway that he could barely make out in the dark. He expected to hear giggling of some sort, or steps fading away, but it seemed the jokester or jokesters had already gotten away.

"Dicks." He said, reaching for the switch to the side of the doorway, to flip the lights back on. He hesitated, his finger centimeters away. What if they didn't turn back on?

He rolled his eyes. He was letting the darkness creep him out. He flicked the switch.

Sure enough, light from the bulb above flooded the area. He closed his eyes from the sudden brightness. Just some pranksters thinking they're funny.

He walked back to his washing machine, from which the readout now read 'Available'. He opened the door and grabbed clumps of his clothes, dumping them on top of the machine. Once it was cleaned out, he slammed the door shut.

He was pissed. Did people really think its that hilarious a thing to do? Do they really think they're that clever? Do they think their being original? He shrugged his shoulders, deciding to just let it go.

Matt turned to the wall of dryers, wondering which to pick. He had so many options. Wait a second.

All of the dryer doors were shut.

He could've sworn they had been open five minutes ago.

That wouldn't have been too bad by itself. He could've handled that alone fine. Unfortunately, that wasn't it.

There was a bumping noise coming from one of the dryers, like something was pounding on the door from the inside.
