The warmness of Tony's breath on the back of Kamille's neck soothed her. They had been laying in her dark bedroom together for almost an hour enjoying eachother's company. Not many words were shared, but there was an undeniable silent connection. Tony was like no other man that she came across in her life time, he was special. Kamille considered him to be the man that every woman desired. She often wondered did she even deserve him.
Her mind began to revert back to the conversation she had with Bernadette in church. She shook her head from side to side, before turning to face Tony.
"You sleep?" Kamille whispered.
"No." He whispered back opening his eyes.
She wondered did Tony know that his brother had feelings for her. She wanted to know how he felt about it all.
"I think we need to talk." Kamille said softly.
Tony pulled her closer to him, and wrapped his big strong arms around her. She nestled her head into his chest, until she was comfortable. One would think his muscular physique would be uncomfortable, but Kamille loved it.
"What's on your mind?" He asked.
"When we were in church Bernadette told me some confusing information." She said.
"Really, like what?" He quizzed.
Kamille contemplated over whether or not she should tell him about Dereck. What if he didn't already know?
"Your mother told me that Dereck...I guess has feelings for me." Kamille admitted.
She waited for Tony's response, figuring he would be upset. When Tony didn't respond she sat up, and stared at him.
"Well aren't you going to say anything?" She asked.
"I already knew that." He said. "And personally I'm not worried about it. I'm here with you right now, and that's all that matters."
"But I don't want to cause any problems between you and Dereck." Kamille said.
Tony pulled Kamille back down, and wrapped his arms around her.
"Don't worry about it." He said softly in her ear.
Everything about Tony made Kamille's heart melt, he was so gentle and affectionate with her. More importantly she loved the relationship he was beginning to build with Taylor. Taylor would rather be around Tony than her real father.
Kamille closed her eyes, and allowed her mind to rest. She wanted to take Tony's advice, and not worry about it.
"Kamille I'm going to marry you." Tony announced.
Her eyes popped open, and her mouth opened but no words came out. Her mind began racing with various thoughts, as her heart fluttered.
"Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but I will marry you." He continued.
"How do you know I'm the one?" She managed to ask.
Tony let Kamille go, and turned over on his back. He placed his hands behind his head, and stared up at her ceiling.
"I have never loved someone the way that I love you." He explained. "There's just something different about you. Something genuine, and unique."
"I feel the same way about you." She said honestly. "I never thought there could ever be a man that would accept me for who I am, and what I've done. You never once made me feel ashamed of who I was. You never looked down on me, and that's refreshing."
Tony smiled at Kamille before placing gentle kisses all over her face.
"All I need is your father's permission." Tony said. "I guess you can call me old school." He chuckled.
Kamille tensed up from hearing her father mentioned. She hadn't spoken to him in quite some time, and was sure he wouldn't want to talk to her. He stopped talking to her long before her mother did. After her divorce from Paul, he said he wanted nothing to do with her, and he meant it. He blamed her for her failing marriage, and concluded Paul was nothing short of a saint.
"I don't think that's going to happen." Kamille said. "I don't talk to my father."
"Why not?" Tony asked.
"Well after my divorce he blamed it all on me." She answered. "Paul could do no wrong in his eyes, and everything was my fault."
"Well it's time you all got to the bottom of this mess." Tony said. "You should have a sit down with both your parents, and lay everything out on the table." He suggested.
"Easier said than done." She mumbled. "My family isn't like yours Tony. My mother isn't like your mother...she doesn't care. This is just the hand that I've been dealt."
"It's no harm in trying." He said before closing his eyes.
