The Dinner  by CeeCee

Jolie called me all day the net day to bug me about the dinner. "What are you wearing?", "How are you fixing your hair?", etc. I guess she finally got the hint after I hung up up on her. Jolie's a great friend, but she knows how to be annoying.

After getting my nails and toes painted, I went home to find something to wear. I actually began to get a little excited to see who this man was. I hope he was attractive...more importantly decent. Although I knew this was nothing serious I still decided to go in with an open mind.

I settled on wearing a pair of fitting at the top wide leg jeans, a nice button up blouse, and a pair of pumps...simple but cute. And after fighting with my naturally curly hair I was ready to go.

I listened to my favorite Jill Scott cd all the way to Jolie's house, and made a silent pact not to ever trip over Sean again. Like Jolie said yesterday...what's done is done.

I pulled infront of her house and looked around for any unfamiliar cars. I wanted to see if this  guy had arrived yet. I spotted a white Nissan Maxima not too far away, and I assumed that was his car. I got out of my car, and slowly walked towards Jolie's front door. I was suprised at how nervous I was.

Before I could even knock the door swung open, and Jolie was pulling me inside. "Calm down Jolie" I said yanking away from her an adjusting my shirt in which she yanked out of place.

"Sorry she laughed. It's just that your late, and I'm really hungry."

"So where is this Dee guy at" I asked.

"In the dining room" she whispered.

"Jolie if he looks like the back of someones **** your going to get it" I teased and headed towards the dining room.

"Hello ever-I cut myself off when I saw who the guy was. He was small framed...almost anorexic looking, balding in the center of his head, extremly light, and had  orange freckles. What the hell was Jolie thinking, I thought. I could totally kill her right now. I noticed she didn't follow me into the dining room, she's probably hiding.

"Hi....everyone" I managed to say trying not to look displeased.

"You must be Desiree" he said standing up to shake my hand.

"Yes...and you must be Dee" I said shaking his hand.

"It's really nice to meet you" he said and pulled my chair out.

"Likewise" I said and sat down.

"So tell me about yourself" he said.

No! Can't we just sit here in silence, I thought. Be nice Desiree...he could be the greatest guy in the world.

"Well I'm twenty four, and I am an administrative assistant.  How about you?" I said.

I really didn't hear anything he said. As much as I tried I just could not get into him. Through the whole dinner I barely said two words. I ate my food in silence and gave one word anwsers.

After dinner I left in a hurry, and pretended I had a headache. Before I could even get in the door Jolie called me.

"Hello" I said turning my hey into my front door.

"You were very rude" Jolie snapped.

"Jolie clearly you knew he was't my type" I said walking in and closing the door behind me.

I silently listened as Jolie went on and on about how beauty is only skin deep. Now this comes from a woman who has a gorgeous husband! After about twenty minutes of her rambling she finally tired herself out and hungup to my relief.

I layed across my bed, and reflected back out on the dinner. I burst into laughter thinking about the little balding guy. That was a funny experience I thought as I drifted into sleep.

Just as my slumber began to geet deeper my cellphone went off startling me.

"Hello" I anwsered in a groggy tone.

"Desiree" a familar voice quizzed.

"Yes" I responded rubbing my eyes and trying to sit up.

"Because of you she left me" he said and hung up.

I hung my phone up, and looked at the caller i.d only to realize it was Sean.
