Jessica sat next to Stacey in class and looked around at all the other students in confusion. Usually before class started her peers were loud, and very talkative but today something was very different. Most of the students had there heads layed down on their desk, and some were even crying.
"What's wrong with everyone?" She whispered to Stacey who was doodling in her notebook. Stacey hadn't seemed to notice the other students behavior as Jessica did.
"I don't know." Stacey answered not looking up from her notebook.
Jessica leaned back in her seat when she saw her teacher come in. His eyes were red, and he began passing out tissues to some of the students.
"I know your all shocked by this." The teacher said sitting on the edge of his desk.
'Shocked by what?' She wondered.
Jessica watched one of her peers burst into tears, and run out of the classroom.
"For those of you who don't know...Claire Miller was found dead this morning." The teacher said through sniffs.
Jessica put her hand over her mouth, and gasped. She looked over at Stacey who was still doodling in her notebook as if she heard nothing.
"I don't have many details on what happened, but if any of you need to talk with the counsler she is available all day. Claire was a wonderful student and she will truly be missed." He said.
"Oh my God!" Jessica mumbled trying to process what she had just heard.
Jessica couldn't help but think Stacey had something to do with this, but could Stacey really be a murderer? She knew she hated Claire...but not enough to kill her.
Jessica was now staring at Stacey who still seemed not to have a care in the world.
'Why is she acting so nonchalant?' Jessica wondered.
She couldn't focus in class at all, she had so many questions for Stacey but she was afraid to ask her. What if Stacey admitted to killing Claire?
After class Jessica decided to talk to Stacey in the band hallway. During this time no students were in that hallway, because band practice didn't start until after school.
"How come you didn't react to Claire's death?" Jessica asked afraid to hear her answer.
"Death happens." Stacey answered casually.
"D-did you kill her?"
Jessica watched an evil smile creep across Stacey's face, sending chills down her spine.
"Oh my God!" Jessica screamed with widened eyes. "How could you do something like that?"
Stacey shrugged her shoulders. "It was easy."
"Why would you do that?" Jessica asked feeling frantic.
"Because she thought she was perfect and better than everyone else....she deserved it Jessica." Stacey reasoned. "She was a bad person."
"Your going to go to jail!" Jessica blurted out.
Jessica watched Stacey's facial expression change from relaxed to angry.
"Your the only person I told so if I go to jail it would be because of you!" She said poking her index finger into Jessica's chest. "So if you just keep your mouth shut everything will be fine."
Stacey scared Jessica, and she wanted to get away from her as quick as possible.
Jessica backed away and ran down the hallway towards the cafeteria. She could barely breathe, and was trying to catch her breath.
She noticed a big crowd was gathered in the center of the cafeteria and she made her way through to see what all the commotion was about.
She watched in shock as police led Sean out of the cafeteria.
"Why is Sean being arrested?" She accidently asked aloud.
"Because he killed Claire." An onlooker answered. "They say they found a note in Claire's pocket from Sean telling her to meet him at the lake...and that's where she was found dead."
Tears fell from Jessica's eyes as she realized what was going on. The note that Stacey had told Jessica to give to Claire must have been the note they found in her pocket. Stacey set sean up.
