Chapter Four

The Unthinkable

Desiree's Perspective

I know my brother, Daniel. I know he was once a hardcore skeptical of anything paranormal unlike me. He used to call me Ghost Girl because I was always teasing our mother that our house was haunted, which always resulted in me getting yelled at. Even to this day, I cannot get over paranormal activity, which is why I am writing this.

Tell me why it struck me as funny yet bizarre that my brother, Daniel, who clearly wants nothing to do with the paranormal ways of life like I do, comes up to me, "Desiree, I think I saw a UFO!" To be honest, when he left the room I was in to get on the computer, I chuckled and said to myself, "Told you they exist."

But then again, it could be Daniel playing a prank on me. He has a history of doing that.

Either way, I believe him. When he told me he saw what appeared to be a UFO, he sounded pretty serious. If he was playing a prank, I would have known by his tone of voice.

And then asking if I know anyone named Monica McCann. I know no such person. Well, I've heard of her. She was on a TV show about UFO's as the main host. She seemed quite professional. But if I told Daniel that, he might get the idea that he was talking to a famous person.

And I most certainly do not want that.

So, I told him I do not know anyone named Monica McCann. He seemed alright with that. But I want to know... Why would a person like Monica McCann email someone like Daniel? It made absolutely no sense. I deserve the email. I am more of a believer than he is!

Well, then again, he was the one who actually saw a UFO. I have still yet to see one.

Darn it, Daniel, you always got to steal the spotlight from me.

So how would Monica know that Daniel saw a UFO? Maybe she is psychic!

Well, let me go on and explain my part of my UFO experience. It's quite fascinating.

So, me, my mother, Daniel and Paul were heading out to dinner. I believe it was in either September or October of 2008. One of those two... I can't remember the exact date. It might've been a Friday. I am not sure. My mind is too scattered to remember that.

I think we were driving to the restuarant for at least an hour. But that was not when I saw the UFO. That was when we were driving back home. I don't want to get into that detail just yet.

Especially since it's just too fascinating.

Anyways, we got to this restuarant, which had a nice view of a body of water near by. And we got the table with the lakeview too! How cool is that?

So of course, I could not choose what I wanted to eat. Everything sounded so delicious! It was a difficult choice! But I finally settled with spaghetti.

I could not even finish my dinner. I was so full I ended up having to take it home. But I am fine with that. I'd rather have it again at home.

Paul was the one who ended up paying for our dinner. I don't think he was happy about it, but I don't care. I was not really a fan of Paul. I hope Mom breaks up with him soon.

We finally got into the car to go back home. It was 8:00. That's about what I remember for when it was. I still do not remember if it was in September or October. But that's not the main part of the story.

"Hey, Daniel," I whispered.

"What?" Daniel said quietly.

"Tell me what you saw that night," I said.

"What I saw?" Daniel repeated. "Where to begin... Well-"

"What are you two whispering about back there?" Mom interupted.

"Um," I stammered. "Uh..."

"Nothing," Daniel said.

I looked out my window. It had to be at least two minutes later, when I felt Daniel tap my shoulder. I looked at him, and he handed me a piece of paper. I unfolded it. On it were the words, "When I was walking home, I heard buzzing. Then when I looked up, there was a strange pattern of lights. I thought it was stars at first, but when it flew off, I knew it had to be something."

I took out a pencil and wrote on the paper, "That definitely sounds like a UFO siting." And I passed it to Daniel. He looked at it, put the paper in his pocket and nodded at me.

I looked out my window again, and noticed something odd. There was a pattern of lights right in the middle of the sky. Now, normally it would just be stars, but not this. Even though there was a lot of stars out, this patterns of lights was forming a square, staying still, and not to mention it was changing colors! Changing colors, I say! What in the world kind of flying object changes color? Well, maybe planes lights do, but I do know planes do not come in the shapes of squares. For that matter, I've never known UFO's to come in shapes of squares. But then again, I guess they can come in any shape.

So as I was staring at this square shape, mesmorized, it suddenly stares hovering slowly back and fourth over and over. My eyes grew wide.

"Daniel, look!" I whispered.

But before Daniel could look out my window, the square shape darted away. I couldn't even see it fly away! It was just gone in the snap of a finger!

"What was it, Desiree?" Daniel asked.

"Um, I'll tell you when we get home," I said.

And that is when the unthinkable happened... The square shape came back! And it hovered right over our car!

"This is it," I whispered to Daniel. "We're dead."

"What are you talking about?" Daniel asked.

"Look up," I said.

Daniel looked out his window. A few seconds later he looked at me and said, "There's nothing there."

"Huh?" I gasped. So I looked out my window.

It was gone.

I looked at Daniel, and he looked at me right back.

"Desiree, did you see...?"

Knowing instantly what he was going to ask, I nodded.

No mistaking. That square was definitely a UFO...
