Long ago, after the war, the few remaining kids grouped together and formed the Shadowmasters. We never knew if there was any other groups like ourselves, but we were content with being safe and hidden from the adults. There was a little over a thousand back then. Now, around fifty years later, the Shadowmasters dispersed and broke apart. There's fewer than a hundred of us left. 

The kids that left, were soon taken, we learned from the once in the while newspaper. We never saw any of them again, and we don't ever believe we will. But there was one thing. One legend that was told in our classes. A legend that is supported and believed in by every kid here. A legend that we know is something to lean on for hope.
