The Cat's Affection Ch. One

A single shot rang out, piercing the silence. The victim fell, but wasn’t killed. A pair of gold, cat eyes were luminescent in the dark. The unfortunate girl sat stiffly against the alley wall, shivering.
‘Who are you?’
‘Nobody. Just a couple of stray cats. Sweepers.’

Train Heartnet yawned quite audibly, announcing his boredom to this plan. Once a former Chronos number, 13 in fact, Train was now a Sweeper. His hair was brown, and his eyes were yellow and cat-like. He wore black pants, shoes, a white shirt and blue vest. The only thing Train took with him from Chronos was his revolver, with the number XIII, 13, etched into the side. Train’s number was also branded into his chest, as was the tradition for all the numbers who entered into Chronos.
‘Might as well quit complaining, Train. Besides, it’s not that bad of an idea.’ said Train’s partner, Sven Vollfied. Sven had green hair, one eye covered. His revealed eye was orange. The eye that was covered was green and empowered Sven to see a few seconds into the future. It had been a gift from his old partner, before Sven became a Sweeper. Sven claimed he went by a “gentleman’s code” and always helped women out whenever he could.
‘I still don’t know why Princess wants to do something like this now.’ Train said. The “Princess” he was talking about was actually a little girl, named Eve. She had long blond hair and a vacant stare. Eve was a bioweapon, infused with Nano-machines that allowed her to transform her body into angelic weapons. Like the innocent child that she was, Eve had an endless thirst for knowledge of the world around her. She had recently requested to see a movie, starring the town’s newest and most popular actress, Amber. Train, of course, was completely adverse to it, as he was hunting down Creed Diskenth, a white-haired, blue-eyed man who had left Chronos the same time Train did. Creed had killed Train’s first friend, Saya, to “free Train from her spell.” Now, Train wanted to turn Creed in for the bounty, as his way for getting revenge.
‘It’s a good thing to take a break once in a while, Train.’ Sven stated. Shrugging, Train followed Sven and Eve into the nearby movie theatre.
Amber was a sight to see. She had blue eyes, mid-length teal hair, tied in a ponytail, and wore an orange shirt, sandals, and a knee-length, thin-strapped, white sundress. At least, she was wearing that in the movie Train, Sven and Eve saw. Neither Eve nor Sven thought much about Amber, except that she was an exceptional actress and quite pretty. But Train had the strangest sense of déjà vu when he saw her. But that was strange; Train had been too busy trying to find Creed, and he didn’t stop to watch any movies. He was still thinking about Amber, when the movie let out. All of a sudden, the trio heard yelling nearby.
