Rasputin stayed at the palace of the Tsar for several months. He had arrived in the spring, stayed through the summer, and now summer was turning into fall. Every day Rasputin entertained himself by getting drunk. He often met with the Tsar for private conversations with him. He even advised the Tsar on political matters. Some of the more conservative members of the Russian royal court criticized the Tsar for allowing Rasputin to do this. "How can you allow a simple peasant such as Rasputin to talk to you about political issues? Certainly a man as low as Rasputin does not have enough education to be one of the Tsar's advisors", said one dignitary. The Tsar just answered, "I listen to Rasputin because he is from Siberia. I want to stay in touch with Siberia. Since Siberia is the farthest part of Russia, I don't want to lose track of it. I want to have knowledge of all parts of my kingdom, including Siberia, and talking with Rasputin helps me maintain that knowledge." It was no use arguing with the Tsar. If the Tsar wanted to talk to Rasputin, then he was going to talk to Rasputin! Since the Tsar was the supreme ruler of all Russia, the dignitaries and officials in the royal court were powerless to make Rasputin leave.

The final ultimate insult was the issue of Rasputin's sexual adventures. While Rasputin was staying in the royal palace, he often had sexual affairs with some of the women who were members of the Russian royal court. Some of the women that Rasputin had sex with were the wives of important diplomats and officials. Every day, Rasputin would get drunk and have sex with another woman in the palace guest room where he stayed. Some members of the royal court were getting tired of Rasputin. He was wearing out his welcome.
