Noah became the target of ridicule, in the community where he lived, as soon as he started building the ark. The local people often came to watch him, and at first,they wondered what he was building. After a few weeks, it become clear that the wooden structure Noah was building was a ship, a huge wooden ship. One of the people who lived in the nearby town said, "Noah must be an idiot! He's so stupid that he's building a huge ship on dry land!"  When Noah walked past, a crowd of people shouted at him, saying, 'Hey you fool! Don't you know that the nearest ocean is over a thousand miles away? How do you expect this ship to float if there's no water to float it in?" Noah stopped walking for a moment,and answered, "God told me to build it. I saw a vision from God, in a dream, and God told me to build it." A man in the crowd said, "Well, how could you have a dream,if you don't have a brain in your head? I mean, dreaming requires a brain, doesn't it?" All the people in the crowd laughed at Noah. The people of the town insulted Noah whenever they saw him. Noah told his wife, "God will punish them, for they are sinners."
