One man in the crowd stepped forward,and he asked Moses to explain the first commandment. Moses said,"The first commandment says thou shalt not kill. That means it is forbidden to kill. It is forbidden to kill any man or woman,and it is forbidden to kill any animal." The man said,"If we are not allowed to kill animals,then how will we eat? We have to kill a cow,so we can cut the meat out of the cow's body,and cook it,and eat it,so how can we live,without killing an animal?"

Moses said,"We are all required to be vegetarians. A vegetarian is a person who eats vegetables,a vegetarian never eats meat." A Roman soldier stepped forward,his sword and shield rattled as he walked. He said,"I am a Roman soldier. It is my duty to defend the Roman empire. If I am ordered to go into battle to defend the Roman empire,I will do it. If I have to kill the enemies of Rome,I will do it. If the first commandment says 'thou shalt not kill',how can I do my duty as a soldier?" Moses said,"Your duty is to God! You must use your fighting skill to defend your empire without killing your enemies! If you find an enemy of the Roman empire,you must capture him,and tie him up with a rope,and put him in prison,but do not kill him!"

The soldier said,"That is ridiculous! If I am ordered to fight a battle,I kill my enemies in battle! I am a soldier,and I am trained to kill my enemies!" Moses said,"That's a sin! It is a sin to kill anyone,even an enemy soldier that you confront in battle!" The soldier said,"Then how do you propose we should win a war?" Moses replied,"You must use non-lethal weapons! God predicted that someday people will invent non-lethal weapons. One is called sleep gas. You spray enemy soldiers with sleep gas during a battle,and when they breathe it,the gas puts them to sleep. While they are asleep,you drag them into a prison,and take away their weapons. When they wake up,they realize they are in prison,and the war will be over!" The soldier was skeptical. He said,"I have never heard of anything called 'sleep gas' before." Moses said,"It has not been invented yet! But someday people will invent sleep gas,and using sleep gas against enemy troops is the only way to handle them,since sleep gas is a non-lethal weapon. Another non-lethal weapon is called a taser. Tasers have not been invented yet,but someday,you will be able to use a taser to knock down a man,without killing him!"

The soldier said,"I would rather knock down a man with my sword!" The people in the crowd laughed at the soldier's wit. A young man stepped forward,and asked,"How does the taser work?" Moses said,"It uses a force called electricity. Electricity is the same force that makes the bolts of lightning in a thunderstorm! It is a powerful force,but it can be produced artificially and  it can be controlled!" Most of the people in the crowd started to leave. Some shook their heads sadly. Moses must have gone mad. They felt sorry for Moses.
