After many years,God decided that too many people were becoming sinners. God was concerned that too many people were slipping into lives of sin. God wanted human beings to make the most of their lives, and sin was making it impossible for people to live their lives to their fullest potential. God decided that he must provide a set of rules for human beings to follow. The rules could not be an elaborate code of law, because a code of law would be too hard for them to remember. God decided to reveal ten basic laws for people to live by,these were called the ten commandments.
God decided to create a human being who had one purpose in life, his purpose was to deliver the ten commandments to the people of Earth. In his wisdom,God knew that there would be arguments over the nationality of this person. If this person was born in one country,it was something for them to brag about,if he was born in a different country, well,it was something for a different country to brag about. God chose to create this person in such a way,so that the person's nationality would be unknown. God created a little baby, and at the same time,he created a little boat for the baby to float in. God placed the baby in the little boat, and let the boat float down the river. God knew that someone would find the baby, and he also knew that nobody would ever be able to determine the national origin of the baby.
The little baby floated down the river, and soon a group of women found it. One of the women shouted,"Look, there's something in the water!" The women jumped into the water, and swam out to the center of the river. One of the women reached the baby, and shouted,"It's a baby! It's still alive!" The women took the baby out of the river, they gave it clothes to wear, and they gave it food to eat. They named the baby Moses. They loved the baby, and they raised baby Moses as if he were one of their own children, but they never knew where Moses came from. It was impossible to determine the national origin of the baby Moses.
Moses grew up and became a man. As a man,he seemed to show a natural interest in religion, and everything related to religion. He learned the religions of the local people, including the Jews,Egyptians and Romans who lived in the area. Moses was destined to see a vision from God,and in this vision,God would reveal the ten commandments to Moses. After God revealed the ten commandments,Moses traveled around and gave speeches about the ten commendments. He tried to tell as many people as he could about the ten commandments. The name of Moses was known far and wide. People in many lands had heard of Moses, but nobody knew what country he came from.
One day a teenage girl came to Moses, and she said,"Oh,Moses,I am one of your biggest fans! I love the ten commandments! But,there is something I always wondered about you. What country are you from? What is your nationality?" Moses never really answered a question like that. He would just smile, and say,"I am a citizen of the world! I am not a citizen of any country in particular."
Many people argued that Moses was from their country. An Egyptian argued that since Moses was trusted by God to handle the ten commandments,Moses was certainly an Egyptian. He said,"Only an Egyptian would have the strength of moral character to handle the ten commandments! Moses has got to be an Egyptian!" A Roman heard about it,and said,"No! That's wrong! The Roman Empire is the only state that could have produced a fine citizen like Moses! Moses is certaily a Roman, since Moses sat at the side of God,and recieved the ten commandments from God! Only a Roman with a pure heart and soul could have received the ten commandments from God! There is no doubt that Moses is a Roman!"
A Jew heard about it,and said,"No,you are both wrong! Moses is not a Roman or an Egyptian, either! Moses is a Jew! Only the Jewish culture coulld have produced a person as fine and as trustworthy as Moses! There is no doubt in my mind that Moses is a Jew!" Although the question of Moses' national origin was argued for many years, nobody has ever determined the nationality of Moses.
