"Hello, if you are reading this you are probaby in a horrible situation. It would mean you are now part of the Society of the Dawning Foxes."
Layla stopped for a minute. "What kind of a name was that?" she said to herself. Then continued.
"This book is used specifically for people who have lost the other near members, and don't know what to do. Judging on the way you're looking at me right now, you probably were handed the key before the old members sacrificed themselves. Am I correct?"
Layla gasped and almost dropped the book. What was going on? How did the book know this? Cautiously, she stepped towards the book, but didn't touch it, and she read on.
"Oh, why are you so surprised? A smart book, BIG WHOOP! Now get me off this floor and let me explain."
Layla did so. The book seemed lighter, as if it had realize something good.
"I see Im not on the floor!" it read, "How delightful! Back to the matter at hand. You want to know what is going on. I shall tell you. This secret society goes way back. It was a time of chaos and war. Families were scared of deadly creatures called Fiers. The Fiers are big, red dog-like beasts that fire itself is named after. They have black wings with poisen purple edges, sharp as knives. Their teeth were polised and sharp to the touch. All these parts were dangerous, but they had a hidden talent- their nose.
"Some people wouldn't even consider it a nose! Just two small slits in the middle of their face. It was a strange sight for dog lovers." It gave a snort of laughter. Then, after it figured out that Layla didn't get it, it continued with it's story. "Their noses could smell well, but sometimes were confused. They couldn't stand the smell of bravery, oh, and onions! It makes them go balistic! But at that time all onions were banned by even worse creatures, Danyas. Danyas are mysterious creatures, are tricky and mischevious. No one has actually seen one, or at least, no one who has survived.
"Danyas have the most persuasive tactics. They know you're weaknesses, they study you, then they attack with their smoothe talking. Eventually, they get you to tell them something you shouldn't. Everyone has a dirty little secret, and Danyas can't stand not knowing what it is. They never target anyone, at least not anyone who has ever done something against them. No one wants a Danya to know them.
"After they discover you're secret, you snap back to reality. Some peole are so dazed, they stand there and the Danyas kill them before they even know what's going on. Other times, the creature is foolish enough to fight back. But they never win. Danyas aren't just talk, they fight too. Their only known physical feature is their claws. Razor sharp, they can slit you're throat in half a second.
Danyas feed on fear. They threaten, manipulate and decieve you, making the most confident heroes collapse. That benefits the Fiers too, because the bravery is elliminated. The only thing the Fiers are scared of, are Danyas. You remember me saying about onions and bravery, right? Well I might have mispoken, because they are WORSE when they go ballistic! Because they become reckless and just push their energy into destroying as much as they can until the smell goes away.
So, yah. Niether Danyas or Fiers are very nice to invite over!
Layla shivered. What was she about to get herself into?
