Elena's Dilemma-2012  by Acuariana

Friday, April 27, 2012, in Florida, outside during beautiful weather of 86 degrees

Elena could not believe it. Her best friends Laura and Beatriz did not support her in any way when she was telling them that she was going through a rough breakup with her ex-boyfriend Joey. Laura told Elena, "You're just overreacting, that's all, and that's what you do, anyway, when you don't get your way. Joey deserves better than you, anyway."

Elena made a face at her and snarled, "Listen, I'm going through a rough time right now, Laura, and I need your love and support. But as far as I can see, I'm getting neither from you right now. No, I don't want you to feel sorry for me, but please!"

Beatriz shook her head in disgust. "No one's going to feel sorry for you, Elena. You're right about that part. If anything, people are not going to believe you over him. Yeah, he might have cheated on you, but you were asking for it."

Elena was appalled! She could not believe what she was hearing from Beatriz! Joey was cheating on Elena with another girl, and this was going on for a while, and Elena did not even know that was happening until her older sister Monica and her cousin Isabel told her. And when Elena found out, she was devastated, of course. But she wasn't afraid to speak her mind to Joey, who didn't exactly tell her what he was doing while he and Elena were together for about almost two years.

Laura looked at Elena. "Listen, Beatriz and I have to go, because we have something to do. See you around." The tone that she used was anything but sweet, that's for sure.

"Good-bye, Laura, and have a nice day. May God bless you," Elena said as nicely as she could even though it was eating her up inside to speak her mind boldly.

Beatriz's departure was a bit short. "Bye, Elena."

Elena replied, "May God bless you, Beatriz. Have a nice day, and good-bye." Then she saw her best friends (well, after what they both said, maybe they weren't her best friends from that point on!) walking off and making faces at her as she left. Elena wanted to stick her tongue out at them, but she thought better of it. She just smiled at them and wanted to kill them with her kindness.

Moments later, Monica and Isabel caught up with Elena. Both of them wore sympathetic looks on their faces.

Elena shook her head in disgust, but she managed to speak up. "I did what I could."

Monica smiled. "Isabel and I both saw what you did. Laura and Beatriz just do not understand, because they've never really been in relationships, so they can't judge."

"That's correct, prima Elena," added Isabel. "And if they both understood, they wouldn't have blamed you for what Joey did. That's just not fair."

Elena grinned and gave them both a hug. Even though sometimes family were the worst people to deal with (and believe me, they are at times, too!), they were the ones who stuck with each other thick and thin (and believe me, there are some family members folks do want to be around, because they are all about peace, harmony, and unity). Monica and Isabel returned the favor. Then they all linked their arms together and skipped all the way to their house.
