The story so far:
"Desiree, if you weren't so sensitive to everything I say, then maybe we wouldn't be arguing," Javier sneered. He was at The Pink Rug, working the next afternoon. He had a dirty look on his face.
"Javier Dario Rodriguez, you are working, so please don't sneer at me," Desiree snapped back. "I'm sensitive to everything you say, because you talk down to me, and I don't need that from you!"
Javier raised an eyebrow. He couldn't believe that Desiree was saying what she was saying. Lately, Desiree felt that Javier wasn't giving her the respect that she deserved, because he would yell at her or talk back to her. Dayra, who was Javier's younger sister, always told Javier to be nice and kind and sensitive, but Javier ignored her half the time.
Desiree said more quietly, "Javier, why are we fighting like this? You better thank God that no one is sitting inside the benches but me."
"You don't understand what I say to you half the time," Javier snapped. "You always think that things have to be your way, but that's wrong! You always want to go home early, and you don't want to chat with me!"
Desiree raised an eyebrow. "Perdon? Nothing goes my way, but you always want to have your way by telling me I can't do this and I can't do that. You can't control me, Javier. I'm sorry."
Javier clenched his teeth. "I'm your boyfriend, Desiree Regina Hernandez. If there is something I don't like about you, I'm going to let you know."
Desiree felt that she had enough already, so she ran out of the restaurant and sat at one of the tables outside. She started to cry. Luckily, Jacqueline noticed her there.
Desiree looked up and waved to Jacqueline although she was crying.
"Hi," Jacqueline said quietly. "What's the matter?"
"Javier and I had a fight."
"What? I'm so sorry. But he had an argument with you during work? That's not right. I think you should tell Amy; she'll set him straight. I can't believe that Javier changed!"
"Then Javier will think I'm a big mouth." Desiree wasn't even convinced.
Jacqueline was, though. "Who cares what Javier thinks? It's what you think, Desi." She gave Desiree a hug. "I love you, amiga, and I don't want you to get hurt."
Desiree smiled. "Gracias, Jacquelita. Let's talk to Amy." She and Jacqueline got up and went in to tell Amy what happened just now. Javier was going to get a taste of his own medicine, and it sure wasn't going to taste good, either!
