Being Autistic is Hard!  by Acuariana

Ondrea knew how it felt to be ridiculed just because she had autism.  She dealt with it every day when she went in to work to deal with her supervisors Jennifer and Laura, who were less than kind to her because of the outbursts due to being overwhelmed.  They felt that she was a threat and a distraction, and they felt that they didn't have time to deal with her, since they had their own work to do.

She was also told that Maria and Angela, two traitors of the company who worked in a different department together, ratted on her for allegedly being rude when she told them to "please be quiet" while she was on the phone one day.  Ondrea said that she was trying to concentrate on her job, but Jennifer and Laura thought that she was very rude, too.  Ondrea felt frustrated and said that they both needed better education on autism.

After thanking them for the conversation, Ondrea was able to obtain permission to cool off outside.  Jeannette, who has Asperger's Syndrome, was a close friend of Ondrea's at the job, and they shared a whole lot with each other.  Jeannette supported Ondrea by saying that Jennifer and Laura should be more polite and more understanding.  Ondrea appreciated Jeannette for supporting her.

About a month after the incident (which happened in September 2007), Ondrea and Jeannette both left the agency on good terms.  In the last weeks of being there, they were able to put the frustrations aside and work together as a team with the others although not everyone responded in a positive manner.  Both girls are still looking for employment, but escaping the agency was the best thing they could ever do, because being autistic is hard for those who don't understand!
