April is National Poetry Month. I'm asking all you poets out there, what can we do to celebrate? Any ideas for an April Poetry project of our own? |

I'm no poet, Al, but what about playing "Exquisite Corpse"? I'm not sure how it would translate onto SM, but here are the rules from poets.org: "Participants should agree on a sentence structure beforehand. For example, each sentence in the poem could be structured "Adjective, Noun, Verb, Adjective, Noun." Articles and verb tenses may be added later or adjusted after the poem has been written. As an example, the following is an Exquisite Corpse composed by the intrepid Academy staff using the sentence construction Adjective, Noun, Verb, Adjective, Noun. Slung trousers melt in a roseate box. What do you think? |

I'm up for this Exquisite Corpse game. But I hope DJ can start us off. I'd also like to publish a series of poetry, maybe one unpublished poem per day throughout April. Any ideas Lady V? We could team up on thematic similar verse...Crappy Love poems/Death poems/Depression poems/Poems about inanimate objects? I suspect that I will start a thread on March 31st that announces my intention, then I will follow up with a poem a day until the end of April. It'll probably end up on page 4 before May 1st. But what the hell. DJ, can you start us out with the collaborative Exquisite Corpse game, starting with another explanation of the game and the first verse? Might I suggest that you publish as a new story and we add our lines as a draft version to your first line. At the end of the month you, as editor, compile the drafted verses in the order that inspires you and republish the collaborative work as a new poem. |
