My personal opinion is that the poets should be able to have their own portion on this site. there's a lot of us that are interested in looking at authors' work, and then there's some that prefer poetry. if we had a different section for each don't you think that it would make finding each easier?

I completely agree, from one Lady to another. lol Once you click on 'stories' it should brings you to an option page- stories or poetry? The same could happen with 'new stories', before you publish it, you should be able to select which portion you would like to publish it under.

Hey Ladies;) A separate poetry section is certainly a great idea. I for one can’t write it to save my life, but I wish I could. I’ll bring it up to the rest of the team and thanks for posting such a gem!

I agree. Poetry can add a sort of abstract point of view to things. You never know, there might be a single poem that inspires us to write a serious colllective novel. Who would've thunk it??

maybe it would also be a good idea to add other sections on this site which also relate to creative writing such as:

Poetry - yes we have mentioned this lol
Plays - this would be a great idea for those who write plays
scripts - same as plays!
songs - this would be creative!

and anything else anyone?

Ladyvike, it's more than just approval. Adding a Poetry section and other writing categories requires some substantive developer and coding changes to the website. Also, SM staff doesn't typically announce changes until they're ready to be implemented. I expect you'll see category options included in the next major site overhaul.

me too! i was also aware that it takes more than just an approval, my step-dad is a techno nerd. i learn all of this from him, i just assumed that the head staff had someone who was able to do that kind of thing. BTW are you from Utah? This sounds like something my uncle might say to me.

I agree. I've been looking for people share poetry with. I tried on the writers section of craigslist, but they weren't too happy about it.

Yeah, it would be nice if there's a special column for poetry.

Yeah, it'd be a great help and I look forward to seeing if we do get a page when they update the site! I have like ten poems to add to that page if we get one.

I wholeheartedly agree that some additional categorization is needed. When I'm looking for a good story, I generally don't want to see a poem, and when I want to read poetry, I lack the patience to read a long narrative. Also, as one with an interest in screenwriting, I would love to see a script section.

If they should put up a poetry page, I have several that I could add to it.

I have a suggestion until changes are made if they do come about for poetry use. I suggest we write in the title what it is such as Poetry:... or Script:... Story:..... that way we know what they are a head of time.
