Murder on the Project Page

Hi Darlings, it’s me, your bloody blogger. I don’t want any of you to think I’m doing this because I don’t love you. I do love you all. But some of your horror MASHes, on the Projects Page, well they just aren’t frightening enough. They don’t leave us here at StoryMash shivering under our covers or calling for our mommies. So we’re killing them. If your chapter gets whacked, best not to cry about it. Crack your knuckles and give it another try on one of the storylines still breathing. But beware, if you don’t write your best, your new chapter may be snuffed out too. The storyline left standing at the end gets immortalized in print. Remember that, and write like you mean it.

But to prove I’m not all evil; I’ve heard whisperings that the deadline for the short story submissions slipped past some of you and that its passing caused dread to creep into your hearts. So we here at StoryMash have decided to extend it until October 31^st. Perhaps the chilling fall air, the dying leaves, and the longer nights will lend you some inspiration. And, though we think the dark is a beautiful place to be, we love you too much to keep you there. If you’ve already sent a submission to us we’ll let you know via email if it spooked us enough to keep it. If not, you’ll have until October 31^st to revise it and send it back. But I must remind you we are only a few brave readers huddled together against the terror you send and won’t be able to give detailed comments. Try posting your stories on StoryMash for your peers to review, that only hurts a little, right?

And it is not just my opinion before the legions of defenders come rushing in. I am merely expressing an opnion , not connected to anything. From the beginning it was obvious to me you are biased - yes, everyone is biased, but you ... you are biased in a malicious way. Cheers.

I don’t understand how and here’s why: you are allowed to post and comment freely; I don’t downgrade your ratings and SM can prove that; I’ve never debased or threatened you; you have a solid following on the site; and I’ve never discouraged others from reading your work. Please point out where I’ve been maliciously biased against you and I’ll apologize because that isn’t the kind of person I want to be. To be honest your second comment upset me more. I don’t mind being hated or despised. I don’t even mind you misjudging my character. But I don’t appreciate being muzzled and I think it’s cowardly of you to post a comment directed to me and then order me not to respond. In the future, please email me directly at melissa@storymash.com if you have problems with my treatment of you. StoryMash is a fiction writing community and not a place to hash out personal issues. By posting comments such as those above you take attention away from the work of your fellow authors.

I contributed to two but if they got axed, I could try to take another stab at it, to challenge myself if nothing else. They all have to be six chapters correct? What if none of them get finished? So write as much as you want over there;) Hey, I'll finish the best one myself if I have to. This book's gettin' published gosh darn it! I don't think it'll be an issue though, there are plenty of awesome authors on this site who can serve up some horror;)
