I can't be a judge and a contributor? Well, there goes my inside track. Dang. Back to bribery.

I'm happy to stay out, but I'm happier to try for another $100. I have a few ideas where this thing can go, so long as I can sort out which chapters are part of the final story. (Information overload! Just because there's so much space between my ears doesn't mean it's for rent!)

Has anyone seen or heard from Perse? I'd think she should be aware of this if it happens.

There's only one chapter left after the current #8, right? Dang, I'd hate the competition, but at least we'd have a rambunctious ending....lol.

If I win this round, I think its a great idea! If I don't, it'll suck to have to go up against people I've already lost to! Haha!! Either way, I would say at least the LAST chapter should be open to all writers. That way this story can finish off with an ending it deserves! I say to give the people who have been contributing round after round one more shot at it (Chapter 9) and then open it up for everyone for Chapter 10.

The most important thing here is to increase participation, and if there was someway to do that without re-opening the contest to judges, I'd be all for that.

I do like voorhees idea - opening up the contest for the LAST chapter only. But I would say to advertise that chapter 9 is the last chance writers have to compete against non-winning authors. Maybe this will increase participation.

Yeah, opening it up for everyone (past winners included) for the LAST chapter would be a great idea.

I haven't won any chapters and don't really have the high hopes that I will as I am just starting out in this writing venture. To be honest, I didn't even really participate till the end of the contest due to outside obligations. However, I don't think opening it back up to previous winners is a bad thing. But maybe put a limit on the number of chapters they can win? Such as two per person. Some are better writers than others, and the same person may win over and over again, so new people might be discouraged from participating. I do like V's idea of the last chapter being a free for all.

P.S. I know that I have tried to learn from the wisdom in others and the comments that they have left. And I have tried to follow much of the advice I've received in hopes that it will help my writing. (I was even glad not to win a round because I wanted to do something differently and wasn't pleased with my first attempt.)

I wanted to say this to every author in the chapter 8, contest, but rather than post it four times I figured I'd just post it here. I've followed this contest closely, and the storyline even closer. This last set of entries, each and every one of them, was more than adequate to carry on the storyline and take it in an exciting and interesting direction. This has not been true of every entry in any previous chapter. It was a tough competition against you guys for chapter 7, but your chapter 8 stuff was on fire. My scores are all posted in comments, but it's the story that wins regardless of the chapter chosen. Great job, all!

I'll second Faerie's solution that winners should be limited to two chapters. I think more participation would benefit the final product. So I say chapters 9&10 open to all is a good idea.

I think opening the last two rounds to all writers would make it much more interesting for everyone. Since there are only two chapters left, only one writer would be excluded from Ch. 10. I don't expect to win again, and was a bit surprised when I did before, but it would be fun to try. More than that, I would love to see what everyone comes up with, it would make for a very exciting finale. I know there may be drawbacks, but I say Go For It!

I wouldn't mind contributing again. I just am not sure if I'll have too much time. Let me know what y'all decide!
