Thou Shall Not Kill . . . but Thou Shall Continue to Write! by Katrina - Sept. 5, 2008
The eighth round of the current contest has been going on for six days, and there are no entries!
What are you guys doing? Still dreaming up the best way for Adara to kick some ass?
Well, we’re going to extend the deadline for three days in hopes that we’ll get ten submissions.
What do you think about that?

I keep trying to encourage other writers to jump in here when I comment on their stories. A couple have expressed interest, I hope they come through! |

You are completely right, each and every chapter it just gets more and more difficult to write the next chapter. lol that and school! Well thanks for the up in the time limit and like Jeremy I was gonna spend a long long time on it! |

The reason is simple . Due to civilizational collapse, everyone is sitting inside their shelters. |

I'm not a fan of extended deadlines. I understand the rationale, but I'd be disappointed if I was voorhees and I didn't win the next entry. Waiting until the last minute doesn't connotate extra work as much as procrastination. It's $100 and a part of a significant story, but my initial trepidation that people wouldn't want to finish stories seems to be coming into fruition. If no one expresses interest (by submitting chapters), may I suggest opening it up to authors of former chapters? I'd be up for trying for another $100 and wrapping a plotline or three. (Hey, if rules are being bent/broken, why not?) |

I had thought of that too, Nash. So far it doesn't look good for having a competitive number of entries for remaining chapters. I would certainly be willing to give it another crack or two... |

Obviously I'd turn in my gavel, but I wouldn't mind taking another crack either. Not so much for the money, but to increase the competitiveness of the contest. (Though I'd take the money too.) |

You make a very good point Nash and I really want to win one of these remaining chapters (not just for the money but more importantly, for the recognition) but I would prefer to win because my chapter is the best and voted so by the judges. I would've been thrilled to be awarded Chapter 8 because I was the only entry but at the same time my competive nature wouldn't have allowed me to enjoy it. I agree that we should open up the last two chapters to all writers just to ensure that this story ends with a bang and not a whimper! With that being said, I still feel like I have the best Chapter 8 and really look forward to read what the judges have to say. |

I hope the Round 9 deadline gets pushed back until I get around to submitting a chapter this time! |
