A writer’s best friend is StoryMash

Pant… pant… pant… StoryMash? StoryMash, where are you? StoryMash authors, I need you, we need you! Save us! We’re being chased by the doldrums of predictable fiction. And they have horrible claws. Send us your short horror stories. We have so many good ones, but we’re greedy; we want more. If you’ve already submitted one, send another. If you haven’t sent one yet… WHAT are you waiting for? We’re giving you until the end of August, 8/31/08. I know! The deadline’s been extended, sometimes you have to give a little to get everything you want.

Ah, the MASH, confused by the rules? So are we. So forget them! Add to any storyline, anytime, as many times as you want. OK, so there’s one rule. The stories must end by the sixth chapter. Or Dogdeity11 will turn into a jack-o-lantern.

And, since we’re greedy fiction fiends, we need your help with one more thing. If you know of, or have participated in a great horror mash, post the link here by September 1st to enter it into consideration for the anthology. Remember, we want to put together an example of the best writing StoryMash has to offer. We want something that really embodies the spirit of StoryMash. And the spirit of StoryMash is not a slobbering zombie; it’s you and your collaborations! So write your best mashes, send in your best short stories, search high and low for spectacularly spooky mashes that already exist, and watch out for the zombies-- they really wanted to be the spirit of StoryMash.

Umm, as for current horror collaborations...There's obviously the October Chill one though, which storyline you would choose I wouldn't be able to decide. Am working on my own horror story submission. The beginning of it is currently on storymash.

I re-submitted the revision to storymash.com. I agree with cheeseliker as far as the 'October Chill' recommendation go.
There are some fantastic writers who astonished me with their creative writing and artistic abilities.

It would be perfect.

Hmn, I think I'll submit a work of my own as well, though I can't say whether it will be sooner or later. Been so preoccupied with my novel as of late....

Does it mean I can write much more than 2000 words and it won't be a problem them. Talking about horror stories, not mashing.

Cheers.

Writing a good horror story isn't as easy as it seems. I've seen drafts of some of the submissions floating around. To say the least, well, grot! Never seen so many bad vampire stories in my life. Why not extend the deadline a little more, unless there's a big rush to get something together? A few months seems like a reasonable amount of time to let people write and submit. It's a numbers game; the more time people have, the more they will submit, and the more you'll have to choose from. Most of it will be slush, but there's a bigger chance of getting publishable material. Horror isn't my favorite genre, but I might consider submitting something if the deadline were extended.

October Chill was still on-going when the anthology and horror mash projects kicked off. I suppose that's why those story lines weren't considered. Now, that there's an extension, why don't you guys (SM folks) pick two or three of the storylines and have the SM writer's finish them off? I know, lots of complications; too many chapters, overall story would be very long, etc. But, the benefits could easily outweigh the problems. These were some very, very good mashes and, to my mind, they are all highly presentative of the SM website.

We're actually looking for anything on-going or already finished. October Chill, I imagine, is just one of the many incredible stories out there. Keep your eyes open!
